Just move to Denver and looking to meet some new people? The Mile High City offers up many activities and interest groups for people looking to do the exact same thing.
1. Join Yoga on the Rocks
Looking for a way to find your center and activate your muscles with a beautiful view of Red Rocks? Yoga on the Rocks runs from June 22nd to October 12th (on select days) and is certainly worth the price. With the new friends you’ll make there, you can even try Play Mile High’s Yoga in City Park for a new change of scenery and to switch things up.
2. Meetup With Other Dog Parents
Take your furever friend to meet your new forever friend. Using Meetup allows you to find other dog lovers with very specific needs. To a group of dogs who suffer from “little dog syndrome,” to dogs that enjoy to hike, to dogs that are the same breed, you can find the right group for you and your furry friend to join!
3. Get Active With Play Mile High
Play Mile High is known for their sports and getting to know new people. From skeeball, to dodgeball, to basketball, you can find a sport you enjoy, or maybe one that you want to try just for fun. Throughout the Denver area you can find a league that best suits your style. So what are you waiting for? 4. Drink, I Mean Live a Little
Blake Street Tavern is the place to be. Any sporting event that you want to watch, they’ve got it. Even better, they have the best loaded nachos. I’m talking about the perfect cheese, to sour cream, to meat ratio. Not to mention, that on Sunday they do both a bottomless bloody mary and mimosa bar. BST also is home to Play Mile High bar games and skeeball leagues. So get ROWDY with Flip Cup galore for Thursday night kickball. where you could even join a Play Mile High skeeball league. Oh, and go ‘Cuse!
5. Participate in Bike Denver
Don’t worry, you don’t actually bike around the entire city of Denver, but is a surprise each week. On Thursdays, starting at 6:00 pm, City Spin Rides will take you throughout the Denver area as you take in the sights, chat with some new people, and get your exercise in. Now, you don’t have to fret about the Ben and Jerry’s you know you’re going to devour later!
6. “Run Forest, Run!” with Denver Beer Company Running Club
Although running a 5k may or may not be your thing, free beer, pasta, and salad may be right up your alley. This year-round club meets up every Tuesday at both tap rooms on Platte Street in Denver and in Olde Town Arvada. So pick which place is right for you and whether you run it, jog it, or walk it, 6:30 pm will always be the starting time. Don’t worry, slow and steady wins the race for this one!
7. Meet Fellow Sports Fanatics
Whether you enjoy baseball, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, or basketball, Denver has it all. Watch the Rockies knock it out of the park, watch the Colorado Rapids strike out their opponent, and watch The Colorado Mammoth make some swift and quick passes. Did I mention that Coors Field (where the Rockies play) has the Rooftop Bar that serves 3 dollar draft beers until the first pitch? You’re welcome. Oh, and if you none of those sports appeal to you, just wait until the winter for some hockey with the Avalanche or basketball with the Nuggets.
8. Venture Through Washington Park
This one may seem far fetched, but I am telling you, Washington Park is unlike any park you’ve ever been to. You can join a pickup game of basketball, or tennis, or even volleyball if you’re up for the challenge. Even if you want to do something more low key, simply take your dog for a walk and be sure to meet other people who are doing just the same.
9. Listen to City Park Jazz
Immerse yourself in the art of Jazz music every Sunday starting June 23rd until August 4th. With a guaranteed time like this, you’re bound to find new people who enjoy the music scene just as much as you do. Also, what would a weekly Jazz fest be without some food trucks? Enjoy those guilt free calories because hey, it’s still the weekend!
10. Go to a Trivia Night
Geeks Who Drink (I didn’t come up with the name by the way) hosts trivia nights throughout the Denver area. Denver Milk Market and Punch Bowl Social are the two major spots that will keep you wanting to go back for more. With Denver Milk Market there are so many food choices to choose from and Punch Bowl Social is known for the delicious, alcohol filled punch bowls (hence the name). So, even if you’re knowledge is put to the test and you only get those Game of Thrones questions right, you’ll still have one happy belly!
